Love Sees

My last post was a song that really touched me. Below are some of the reasons why.

Tell Me your story, show Me your wounds
And I'll show you what Love sees when Love looks at you
Hand Me the pieces, broken and bruised
And I'll show you what Love sees when Love sees you

Our eyes see a woman in flannel pj pants, uncombed hair and smelling like smoke dropping her child off at preschool and our human eyes think she's a bad mom who'd been out late drinking/smoking.  Love sees a single mom who was working late trying to make a living while raising her son who happens to be one of the most polite kiddos in the class. Her self worth brought her to a place where she felt she didn't deserve any better, where her choices made her sin a bit more visible. Love sees a woman who needs to know what it is to be loved by her Heavenly Father simply because of her priceless worth and is blinded by shame and guilt, and an earthly Father who never bothered to show up.

Our eyes see a woman in the check out at walmart with a busy toddler appearing tired and a bit short on patience. We think about our to-do list, what our agenda is for the day and really wish the line would just move. Love sees a woman raising her granddaughter, about to endure yet another birthday for her Son that is no longer here. A woman who would do anything to change the circumstances of her Son's death. Love sees a woman who maybe hasn't stopped doubting if she did everything she could. Love begs her to turn to Him, to trust Him with her family and to stop fighting this world. be still mama, you've fought hard for your kiddos-

Our eyes see a young girl in that same check-out at Walmart, with a young baby. She wears no wedding band, checks a text on her IPhone and then continues to unload her groceries. We assume she is one of those facebook slams about how our tax money pays for her groceries while she pays for her Iphone. Love sees a young mom parenting with intention, showing her son daily just how precious he is, making a home with his Dad because she knows what it was like not to know her biological dad. She would rather be married but knows being married just to be married isn't right. Love sees she does not accept public assistance but lives off of 2 part time jobs while taking over 12 credits in college. Love sees a kind hard working young woman with a love for those around her.

I pray today Lord that you give me eyes for what you see.
