Mom Eagen

Edna Eagen age 87, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2016 at the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, MN. She was born December 4, 1929, in Audubon County, IA, west of Brayton. Edna was baptized and confirmed at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church. She graduated from Exira High School and married in 1948. She and her husband owned and operated a tavern in Hamlin, IA for several years prior to relocating to the Minneapolis, MN area in 1954. As an accomplished seamstress, she utilized her advanced skills at home for her family along with working at various alterations, clothing, and fabric stores. They continued to raise five children through that period and then moved to Buffalo, MN in 1969.
Edna resided there for the remainder of her years, close to her good friends and family as she worked in various employment roles of retail and industrial businesses. After retiring in 1996, she focused a majority of her time visiting family, traveling, and crafting intricate crochet projects for friends, family, and local craft markets.
Loved and respected by all, Edna’s warm heart and thoughtfulness was always prevalent to those around her. She often went out of her way to help embrace accomplishments and struggles in which we all have had in our lives. Our mother will forever be remembered as a kind and giving Christian woman with a bit of spunk in her personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric C. and Lizzie M. (Andersen) Christensen; her children’s father, Robert Eagen; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Harold Hoegh; brother, Emmert Christensen; brothers-in-law, Gordon Lykke and Lyle Larsen; two great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Brielle.
Survived by her children, Connie Fick, Laura (Jerry) Varner, Cindy (Dale) Brekke, Becky Ulrich, and Rick (Missy) Eagen; grandchildren, Troy (Christy), Chris (Bridget), Melissa (Jason), Makenzie, Cortnee, Heather (Jason), Jake, Eric, Sam, Kayla and Jordan; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister, Erma Larsen, sister-in-law, Corrine Christensen, along with many other family and friends.
A Memorial Service led by Pastor Chuck Dake is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 10:30 a.m. at Lake Ridge Care Center, 310 Lake Blvd South, Buffalo. In addition, a grave side service will be in Exira, IA this spring, 2017.
